Title: Voyage to Ayama: Dawnbreaker #1
By: KA Knight
Genre: Sci-Fi / Reverse Harem
Pace: Slow – Medium
The 43rd colony mission was supposed to be a boring space flight to our new home world of Ayama.
When tragedy strikes, leaving teenager Indy Stewart an orphan in space, things start to get interesting.
Throw in illegal races, flight school, boys and an explosive subterfuge which just seems to keep on unravelling around her and you have one hell of a journey.
The Reaper’s Review:
Surprisingly, I don’t read space/sci-fi genres as often as I should. I’m sure why not, I loved romance options in Mass Effect (and now my nerd is showing – oh well).
The first chapter, it just sets the book up. You can feel all the emotions and get your heart ripped out in the first few pages. You can’t help but want to give Indy and hug and tell her everything is going to be okay.
We meet Barrott in the first few pages, and I totally fell in love with his character. Indy feels that her attraction to him is one-sided, and she hates herself for her feelings, but you know, that’s never the case in these situations. Out of all the men, new and old, in Indy’s life, he is by far my favorite. I like them dark and broody.
She meets the brothers, and they’re just tragically precious. I want to snuggle with them, not as much as Barrott, but you know, this is a ‘why choose’ story.
I love the banter and all the excitement from living on a ship. I do have a lot of questions that I can’t wait to find answers for in book two. There are some ‘the plot thickens’ moments that I can’t wait to explore.
I still don’t know how I feel about Cain, the flirty friend of Indy’s. I’m currently side-eying list last actions at the end of the book. We shall see if he redeems himself for me next book.
– Can I just make a list with Barrott’s name? No? Finnnnneeee.
– Book gives you the feels
– Funny banter that keeps things light at times
– Barrott… shhh… just let it happen
– Good story flow and character depth
– Katie, you know I’mma give you a look, bloody CLIFFHANGER warning, you’re lucky you’re cute
– Slow burn, yes it can be considered pro too, but I just wanted to smush them together and bang
Loved it! I can’t wait to see what happens to the members of Dawnbreaker. There are questions, many questions, that I need to have addressed. And more Barrott. And there is actually an amazing storyline, I’m not completely one dimensional. There’s a game afoot, Watson.
